FAQ VVDI MLB Tool MQB48 Adapter

 Here are frequently asked questions of the new Xhorse MQB48 adapter for VVDI MLB Tool.

 

Q: Do you have to replace the replacement chip again when switching back to MLB?

A: This chip is used to replace the original chip in the MLB main unit. After replacement, it will work with the information collector. Discard the original chip; no need to retain it.

 

 

Q:  Need Bonus Points for MQB48 ?

A:  No points required to collect mqb48 immo data.

 

Q:  Is it compatible with Xhorse Key Tool Plus (paired with MLB Tool) or with VVDI2 only?

A: It is compatible with both vvdi2 and key tool plus.

Note: Tablets with a single Type-C port have poor power stability, leading to longer collection times and lower success rates. Strongly recommend collect data via PC.

Q:  Why does it only work with vvdi2 and not with vvdi keytool plus??

A: It does work with both vvdi2 and key tool plus.

 

 

Q: All the same capacitor too Remove?

A: need remove just 1 capacitor and solder back.

 

Q: If I buy a new MLB tool, will it already have a new chip or do I have to replace it as well?

A: Still need to replace the chip.

 

Q:  Why mlb tool doesn’t do mqb48 with vvdi keytool plus???

A: It can work with key tool plus to collect data. But PC is better.

 

 

Q:  With that modification, the MLB will lose guarantee?

A:  No, it will not.

 

Q: Support all mqb48 keys? Prox, bladed, digital cluster?

A: Depends on key type. Check the wiring diagram in software. If the key board matches with the wiring, it can do.

 

Q: I just generate correct remote using app then write data to key?

A: MLB tool just calculate immo data, you still need VVDI2 or VVDI Key Tool Plus to generate dealer key and learn key.

Read MQB48 IMMO Data with VVDI MLB Tool and MQB48 Adapter

 Here we will show how to calculate VAG MQB48 NEC35XX immo data with Xhorse VVDI MLB Tool and MQB48 adapter.

 

Model example: Audi Q2.

Tools used:

A new key to be programmed

Before using MQB48 adapter, we should modify MLB tool firmware as following:

How to Update VVDI MLB Tool Firmware to Use MQB48 Adapter?

Then we start to read immo data with MLB tool.

Run VVDI MLB Tool software. Choose MQB48 function and check wiring diagram.

Select corresponding wiring diagram. Here the key board is the same as type 5.

Need to solder 2 wires, black wire and red wire.
Remove a capacitor, the solder the red wire (near the IC position).

Open the original key shell.

Remove a capacitor as shown in the wiring. Then solder two wires.

Connect Xhorse XDMQBAGL MQB48 Adapter with MLB Tool.

Connect Key board with MQB48 adapter. Place the key to coil of MQB48 adapter in the vertical direction.

The MQB48 adapter has strict power supply requirements during data collection. Use two separate USB cables to power the MLB main unit and the MQB48 collector. Do not use charging adapters.
The MLB main unit does not require 12V power.

Then connect MLB Tool with PC via USB cable.

Read key information. Read Key ID successfully.

Press Collect Key data.

Collecting key data and calculating immo data.

Calculation finished. Restore key back to original status. Save MQB NEC35XX immo data.

Data Collection Time:
Good power supply: ~15 minutes for data collection, ~1 minute for immobilizer data calculation.
Average power supply: ~30–60 minutes for data collection, ~1 minute for calculation.

Resolder the capacitor back to the key. Reinstall key shell. This is very important !!!

 

NOTE:

Removing the wrong capacitor can cause the MQB chip to become unrecognizable, making it impossible to collect data.
After reading the data, the capacitor must be restored; otherwise, the key cannot be programmed to car.

 

If need to connect MLB tool with key tool plus to calculate MQB48 immo date, make connection like this:

Connect VVDI2 or VVDI Key Tool Plus with vehicle via OBD connector.
Go to MQB anti-system system (NEC35XX Continental/VDO), read cluster info.
Load immo data saved by MLB Tool.
Then generate dealer key and learn key.

Xhorse VVDI Wire Remote V2 Special Clone Not Working?

 Problem:

Tried to clone remote using Xhorse vvdi wire remote v2 XKB520EN, it failed me.

Error “SN2 modle detected. Special clone only support wire key.”

Solution:

Special clone only supports gen1 wired remote.

Gen2 wire remote does not support special remote cloning.

How to Update Xhorse VVDI MLB Key?

 Problem:

Successfully add a spare VVDI MLB key to an Audi Q7 2019 using VVDI MLB Tool and vvdi2.

After programming,press the buttons of the key, the light turns on for 3-4 seconds and then goes off.

Solution:

In VVDI MLB Tool software, go to Update Online->Upgrade OEM keys to update VVDI MLB key and try again.

Xhorse Multi Prog MSV80 Number of Times is 0 Solution

 Problem:

Had a problem reading BMW X3 Continental MSV80 ECU with xhorse multi prog. Error: The number of times used is 0. Any solution?

Solution:

The times of reading these DMEs have reached the limit per day.
Sync device and it will work as usual.

Go to Update Online-> Authorization management. 

Hit Synchronize to sync device.  Then read ECU again.
